Ministry through:
In 1848 under the leadership of Reverend Reuben Wilson, a group of believers organized Ebenezer Baptist Church in a log building in the general vicinity of the present church. With the basement of the log building as a sub floor, a new wooden building was erected around the early 1900’s. In 1954 on the third Sunday in November, the congregation marched from the second building to the present brick edifice. On Sunday, November 20, 1988, the new addition to the church was dedicated. We have continued renovation projects to update our edifice. Ebenezer has been led by the following pastors: Reverend Reuben Wilson – 1848-1918 Reverend J. F. Harraway – 1918-1925 Reverend F. N. McLaughlin – 1925-1932 Reverend John W. Wiley – 1932-1946 Reverend W. J. Beard – 1946-1964 Reverend Royal L. Ferrell – 1964-1994 Reverend Paul Andrew Jackson – 1994-2003 Elder Mark T. Gibson – 2003-2016 Reverend Teresa M. Hardy – 2016-present Ebenezer is rich in history. We are the oldest African American Baptist Church in the state of North Carolina.
